La Margherita

We were surprised to get a table, with it being the weekend all the parents were coming back to take students away for the summer, but dependable La Margherita came through for us. We drank a rosé, nice and dry, and I ate Italian sausages. They were delicious, clearly of a very good quality, with clear chunks of meat and a firm texture. They came on a bed of lentils, made into a kind of thick sauce, roughly the same consistency as mashed potatoes, and with sun-dried tomatoes within the mix. New potatoes and vegetables were served on the side, including appropriately crunchy carrots and broccoli. My dining companion had chicken Milanese (see picture), again with potatoes, and reported it was as delicious as usual, it being evenly covered with the intensely coloured breadcrumbs, and very well butterfly-cut. The prices were also reasonable, being about average for Cambridge.
