Galleria feast

The Galleria has an awesome riverside location, with summer tables overhanging the river so you can watch punts glide by as you eat. It being winter, we sat inside. It was a real feast. After the starters of gravadlax and duck liver and Grand Marnier parfait, I went on to the swordfish, looking very pretty on its bed of cous-cous, and tasting like heaven.

One companion had the duck, which came with dark cherries and sweet potato chunky chips, while another had the monkfish. None of us faulted any of them. Alongside we drank a South African Broken Rock chenin blanc.

Only one had room for dessert, and what a dessert! The Galleria cocktail featured chocolate ice-cream, whipped cream, chocolate wafer biscuit, strawberry, roasted almonds, and chocolate and toffee sauces! It’s the sort of dessert for which you might want to keep an ambulance on stand-by, but it was also declared to be totally delicious.
